Davie, Florida, located approximately 9 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale and approximately 25 miles northwest of Miami, is approximately 8 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean. Davie real estate is well known for its rapid growth over the past several years, but it has managed to maintain small-town charm and appeal. The town of Davie was founded in the early 1900’s by settlers from the Panama Canal Zone and back then, it was called Zona.

The town of Davie was named after developer Randolph Davie and was originally Everglades land. Educational institutions calling Davie home include the Broward Community College Central Campus, the Davie Campus of the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University. The Town of Davie lists its population as 90,194 within its 35.59 square miles.

Davie real estate consists of not only single-family homes, condos, townhomes and villas, but also multi-family, commercial, and vacant land for either commercial or residential development. The Davie residential market is estimated to have more than 28,682 homes with a median value of $450,000. Davie vacant land currently ranges in price from $55,000 for a .25 acre lot for mobile home placement to $6,450,000 for 15 acres of residential land. Affordable Housing Plan passed in Town of Davie, Florida

On Wednesday, April 16, 2008  the Davie, Florida Town Council passed an affordable housing ordinance  to assist low-income residents.

Soldier’s daughter in Davie receives letter sent 56 years ago

In 1952, soldier Richard Lanshe mailed a letter to his parents living in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania from Fulda, Germany.  
The letter finally arrived in Wyomissing in 2008.   Richard Lanshe’s parents had died and, in fact, so had Richard last year, but a dedicated United States Postal Service employee forwarded the letter to Richard’s daughter in Davie.
