Soldier’s daughter in Davie receives letter sent 56 years ago

In 1952, soldier Richard Lanshe mailed a letter to his parents living in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania from Fulda, Germany.

The letter finally arrived in Wyomissing in 2008.   Richard Lanshe’s parents had died and, in fact, so had Richard last year, but a dedicated United States Postal Service employee forwarded the letter to Richard’s daughter in Davie.

Daughter Kathy Lanshe was overjoyed to receive the letter and photos from her father.  She was also curious, like many of us as to where that letter was for all those 56 years.

The USPS has no idea why it took so long to get from Europe to Pennsylvania.

South Florida Tech Day to be Hosted by the Delorean Club of Florida

The Delorean Club of Florida will host South Florida Tech Day on April 6, 2008 at 5800 Hawkes Bluff Avenue in Davie.

The Delorean Club of Florida is centered around the DMC-12, aka Delorean automobile manufactured by John Delorean from 1981 - 1983.  Automotive enthusiasts may recall that the Delorean was featured in the movie trilogy ‘Back To The Future’ and that John Delorean is the man credited for the creation of the Pontiac GTO.

South Florida Tech Day will bring together Delorean owners and other automotive enthusiasts in a social setting.  Admission is free, but $7 is requested to cover the expense of pizza and drinks for the occasion.

Event hosts are offering to look over the cars of participants who will be attending the Celebration Exotic Car Festival to be held April 18 - 20, 2008 in Celebration, Florida near Walt Disney World in Orlando.
